Nozomi Shinkansen 500
Hitachi / JR West Japan
For many years, the Nozomi 500 was the fastest train in the world. The origin for the development of the train-series was a design study we performed for Hitachi. The Nozomi 500 has received various awards, including the "National Award for Invention and Innovation" by the Japanese imperial family. Alexander Neumeister was the first non-Japanese to receive it in 1998 – along with teams of Hitachi and JR West.
