Revolutionizing Commuter Trains: Unveiling Cutting-Edge Innovations with Hitachi
How can we redefine the daily commute? At N+P Innovation Design, we are always pushing the boundaries of design to improve the future of mobility. During this year’s InnoTrans, our CEO Christiane Bausback and Sho Nozue, Design Lead at Hitachi Japan, took the stage at the International Design Forum to unveil cutting-edge innovations for revolutionizing commuter trains.
Together, we introduced a modular toolkit designed to address commuters' diverse needs. Rather than relying on static personas, we designed with user journeys, which capture real behaviors, offering deeper insights and enabling solutions that are more responsive to passengers’ needs.
Christiane Bausback highlighted the importance of seating, stating that sometimes it’s better to reduce the number of seats in favor of creating more space or integrating useful elements into the interior design. Examples include enclosed cabins that could be reserved as part of a ticket, interactive windows, and high-contrast color schemes to support elderly passengers.
